Great video! There are very few videos comparing different controllers, and I think this one might have the most controllers in a single video. An interesting note is that Gledopto has released 2 (8 variants) new controllers recently. One is an updated version of the one you showed, and one is a copy of Athom's new mini controller except it comes with a built-in mic. Would love to see you review those ones as well! edit: I just realized half the comments start with variations of "great video!" LOL

For the short distances of the patch cables, there is no difference between a CAT5 and CAT6 cable. In fact there should be no difference for lengths up to 20 - 30 feet. There was no need to spend money on changing.

ve been wanting to do this for a while now. I have very limited space and don;t have a spot to wall mount anything so I'd probably get one that's on wheels. I just want to organize. I haven't done much for IOT devices just because I don't want a pile of hubs and switches sitting behind the TV or something. I just haven't committed to the project yet. But it's a great idea. Having everything in one spots a lot cleaner and convenient.

Love the INNR bulbs. I have a couple (due to your review) and they're every bit as good, if not better than Philips Hue. I do wish they offered higher lumen bulbs than 800lm/60w.

I tossed in the etherlight cables, a patch panel, I ponder how long before you fall into the NVR pool? LoL Welcome to the ecosystem...it's not perfect but it's cool and getting better! 2 issues i see (av guy that does smart homes from pre-wiring to programming) patch panels are horrible, you're adding 4 more additional points of failure that are honestly very annoying to trouble shoot, never use pass through RJ45s i have seen dead switches and dead ports because of this

Nice job! As much as I understand the hype going for the Unify system, they are overpriced for home use. For home/soho, you can do the same with the Omada system. I also have had a similar patch panel for over 2 years, no issues at all. It is nicer since I don't have to waste the bunch of rj45 cables I already have to get all cables the same colors. I just replace the color on the patch panel.l/the connector plug. Just fruit for thought.

I replaced 3 of my motion sensors with 3 of these. Granted they are only a single zone, but that is all I need them for. I got mine a few months ago and they are GREAT! Unlike the motion sensors they know when to turn on/off things. It even got a GREAT approval rating from the wife and that is something that takes a lot. Looking to purchase a bunch more. Not a single issue so far.

Hey Arron, Great video! I kind of figured you would like the UDM-Pro. I got mine like 3+ years ago and have been constantly upgrading since then. The next thing you need to do is setup a WireGuard VPN server in your UDM-Pro for remote access. WireGuard is faster than OpenVPN, at least for me it was. I (we) really enjoy it when traveling for connecting to the home network for video, maintenance and Remote Home Assistant access.... As for your future switch upgrade I would HIGHLY recommend either the UI USW-Pro 24-PoE or if you can swing it ($$$), the 48 port version. I went with the 24 port, but now a few years down the road I need to upgrade to the 48 port, as I am looking at more things to connect. Ports are like Solar, you can never have enough! Also, for any new cabling, I would recommend that you switch to at least CAT 6 for future technology upgrades. Here is what my setup looks like at this "Point in Time". Keep up the videos. why are you stll using hubitat hub?

Great video Aaron! Thank you! Can your UPS handle a device requiring 125v? My modem’s Optical Network Terminal (ONT) requires 120-125v outlet. When you were all said and done, how many watts were you pulling with everything in your rack plus your workstation with all your peripherals? I actually want to set up a UPS that can handle all of the above (plus a second work station) for at least 4-6 hours. My wife and I work from home and when the power goes out, it can be out for a long time, sometimes 24 hours.

Congrats on the upgrades Aaron! I can 100% recommend the UniFi 24 port PoE switch (USW-24-POE). Get it!!! I went with 2 of the U6 Lite APs and my coverage has been great (2k/sf house). Viewing the UniFi console is kinda addictive as far as seeing the topology and data provided. I havent added the UniFi integration to HA yet but plan to this weekend. Thanks for sharing everything and you should definitely create a basic UniFi setup and configuration video! Take care and thank you again for all your help with HA! 👍
